I walked by Gallery Inn at the intersection of 19th and Florida today and see it is closed.”
Back in 2010 we noted the Gallery Inn was up for sale for $2,100,000.
Looks like it will remain a hostel/Inn according to the permit posted out front:
“Transient lodging” – what neighborhood doesn’t need more transients!
I never knew quite was it was supposed to be and always assumed it was a house of ill repute.
A friend of mine is working on the interior. It’s going to be more hotel less hostel. It is one of those hotels where you will get your keys from a central location.
It’s actually more of a hostel than hotel and caters to the backpacking/student crowd. I always wondered how it stayed in business, but it gets great reviews online.
It is great it seems to be continuing as a relatively low cost option for tourist lodging in DC. We actually need more.
Would love to see them clean up/landscape that side yard. It looks muddy and awful. Like the dupont dogpark before they astroturfed it.
It’s been painted white! I’m not a fan of painting brick.
