My guess is that it is next door to what I am fairly certain is a halfway house, on that...
One of the best parts about living up in Takoma was easy access to Quarry House. If this...

LOL.
It's actually booby-trapped to be anti-kid.

love where you said "Yet...
That place was horrible, that building is terrible. They need to gut that building out and start over. Cheap Asian places don’t work in Adams Morgan
+1 tear down that fugly building
Wasn’t that the old Felix and spy lounge?
Yes. That bar was my first experience with woman who would hit on me, then fade away to hit on other men when they found out what I did for a living, since I clearly didn’t make enough money.
I hope that they all found their sugar daddies.
That’s generally my experience regardless of the establishment.
Hahaha. For me it was just Felix and Cities. Everywhere else I met real women.
LOL. And I bet those women aren’t even that attractive.
Actually, they were smoking hot.
Yes, and before that it was India Gate, I believe? Or was that where Idle Times used to be?
God, remember when Adams Morgan had bookstores?
Idle Times is still there. They just moved across the street.
Not only is Idle Times still open but The Potter’s House cafe / bookstore is still there. I don’t remember there being any other bookstores.
In the late ’80s and early ’90s, Bick’s Books, which sold new not used books, was located at 2309 18th, almost directly across the street from the buildings mentioned in the post.
I predict that Wok and Roll is next.
No way, Wok and Roll is good and consistently fairly busy. Especially when they have the patio open.
I only ate here once, because I live right around the corner and I kind of felt bad that it was always empty. My friend and I were the only people there, and the owner told us a crazy story about the building being haunted and the ghost that he sees around the restaurant (that was also apparently responsible for a gas leak once). So yeah, I never went back after that.
AH! I ordered their once. They took like half hour to prepare a take-out dinner… messed up the order, and the food was AWFUL… I’m clearly not the only one who was grossed out by the place…
The place seemed kind of open, which with few people, made it seem empty. Not good for a restaurant.
And they WERE super-slow. Order something and it seemed like one cook was making each dish him/herself, one order at a time.
Hmmm….I actually liked this place quite a bit – very friendly staff, food that was good for the price, nice patio when the weather was warm.
Like others have said, there were never any customers, which is obviously why it closed. Since Spy Lounge moved out these buildings keep getting shabbier and shabbier, with lower-and-lower rent businesses moving in.
I never went because I’d always head towards Columbia Heights for pho. I walked by a few times and it always seemed empty. I’m sure Pho 14 moving into the ‘hood didn’t help.
“daily retro bar” and “guys we have wings!!!” makes that window great.
Never went to either. Tear down both buildings and start fresh.
I never understood, was this the same as Instant Noodlez that was in the space for a brief period beforehand?
Yes.
Hate to capitalize in on trends, but AdMo could use a quick burger joint ala Five Guys or BGR.
GUYS WE $4 HAVE WINGS.
