221 Upshur Street, NW
The former Fat Daddy’s space at 221 Upshur St, NW will become The House of Falafel. Some may know the House of Falafel food truck which launched in Aug. 2011. I spoke with owner/chef Negra who says the Petworth spot should be open in about 3-4 weeks.

Gathering in one place to show respect for those who served their country is thoughtful....
Don't you have to wait in line just to put your name down, though?
Also, what if I...
I would also go to your councilmember (who is Jim Graham) and explain the situation. They...
So awful, praying that see and the baby are as okay as you can be after being shot
Get rid of this stupid reservation system. Why should a customer have to wait in line...
Oh man, I can’t wait to try this. My brother lives right around the corner.
Nice!!
Looks great. We went into Fat Daddy’s once, and while the guy was super nice, and the food was good, it wasn’t a restaurant that was going to survive. Hopefully these guys can get some traction here. I will definitely check it out.
Hurray!
Very excited. Hope they deliver, too.
Money! I’ve been hoping a falafel shop would open up in Petworth!
Sweet! Hopefully they deliver and will jump on the Seamless bandwagon like most of the local places.
I gotta say, as great as this is for Petworth, I tried this truck the other week because I’m a falafel addict. Not good. Everything was mushy and tasted the same (I got a falafel platter with couscous and veggies). Maybe the meat is better? Again super glad for the new business coming to the neighborhood, but they need to step it up a little. Look to Red Toque for inspiration!
Yes! I’m excited. I live only 3 blocks from here. If the falafels are good I will definitely frequent this place.
Great news!
The food truck IMO is delicious , so happy to see they opened up a B & M location
Now I can stop going to Greek Spot at 11th & U!
I can’t wait!!!
Super excited about this! Only a mile from me. Now if only a coffee/tea shop would open that close.
