  • does anyone know why they close down completely in the winter? i think they’d make a killing as a take-out only joint

    • Eh, I don’t know about that. Their food isn’t THAT good. There’s a ton of other options in the ‘hood. I’ll eat the food because I’m drunk and outside. Their real money maker is the mark-up on the beer; the food just keeps you there longer to drink more beers.

      Though, from what I understand from a former roommate who worked there, they’ve applied multiple times to install a tent or other semi-permanent structure so they can be open through the winter. And the city has denied their application several times.

      The place probably makes a killing for the 8.5 months that it’s open. I imagine the rent is very cheap, since it was rented as an empty lot with a small building. If I was the owner, I’d take the winter off for someplace warm instead of dealing with the hassle of trying to sell food (that really isn’t all that profitable).

      This place probably has the largest ROI percentage of all the venues on 14th.

  • The car is part of their new seating — if it gets too hot, you can turn it on and run the air conditioning.
