You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. But please no personal attacks and no need to correct people’s grammar. This is a place to vent and/or celebrate things about daily life in DC.

Not trying to start another AdMo Liquor License Moratorium debate, but is there any truth to the legend that a mystic man of Adam’s Morgan owns “most of the buildings” on the Strip, kinda like a mob?
I’m wondering this because there are a few lots, like the old Slaviya building (which is massive!) and the lot between Shenanigans and the Tattoo Parlor below the Reef haven’t been rented out by a local retailer. I ask this because I’d like to see FundRise take a shot at giving local residents the ability to both provide insight into what retailers they’d like to see in their neighborhood and invest for themselves in the business.
Has anyone heard anything similar or know where to look up who owns all the buildings on 18th? Much appreciated.
You can look the owners up on the DCRA website. Click on the PIVS link at the top of the page.
Thanks. This is beneficial.
why would owning a bunch of real estate be anything like “a mob”?
Rant: At the office today while it’s gorgeous out.
Rave: Going for a hike with my lady tomorrow morning.
Rant: Finally finished my 2010 tax returns, and now I can’t find my 2011 W2s or mortage interest statements! Argh, I hate being so freakin’ disorganized!
Rant: Michigan lost to Wisconsin. Offense was horrible today. And why on earth did they let that kid have a chance at that last second three?!
Rave: I finally don’t have a complaint about a trip to Lou’s City Bar. Manager treated myself and other Michigan fans in the crowd exceptionally well (Gave us many free shots/drinks for fun!). Service didn’t suck (did on our previous two visits). And food was pretty darn good. Delicious, actually.
Does anyone else hate to shop where music’s blaring?
Rant: two people stabbed at Lost Society last night? WTF?
Early media reports now corrected to reflect a random street stabbing at corner of 14th & U. Video surveillance indicates that crime didn’t occur at Lost Society NOR were the participants even at Lost Society: http://wj.la/12h6h8N
RANT: Someone stole my iPhone last night while I was out. =( They turned off the phone so I couldn’t use the tracking application. Not happy about how much I’m going to have to pay for a replacement, sigh.
