I think it’s odd it’s taken this long to get the plates back on, especially considering how quickly they were removed when GW Bush came to office, but much of this strikes me as a gimmick. I mean great, we have a president who superficially supports DC statehood. The news runs with it for a cycle and then we’ll all forget, until Vince Gray gets arrested again.

The photo gives a very good idea of just how noticeable a change this will be – I am sure everyone’s eyes are immediately drawn to the license plate of the car, not toward the president or any of the other dozens of vehicles.
Sure it doesn’t hurt, but let’s not pretend it means anything.
If I were president, I would put the bumper sticker that says, “Ass, Gas or Grass – nobody rides for free!” on the limo.
