Random PoP Proclamation – Harrar Coffee and Roastery is Awesome

Harrar Coffee and Roastery recently opened at 2904 Georgia Ave, NW. I’m hoping it’s because of the holidays but it’s been dead empty the last couple times I stopped in. It reminds me a lot of Columbia Heights Coffee on 11th Street, which is to say it is awesome. If you live nearby you should def. check them out.

I agree! It’s fantastic, the owners are great, prices are reasonable and the coffee is really good – not burnt like Starbucks, but with more oomph than Dunkin. I haven’t eaten there, but my neighbor said their sandwiches are good too. I’m thrilled they’re open, and open early in the mornings. Great addition to the neighborhood.

I can second (or third) this! Great coffee and a very cute space. Plus the friendliest people you could want in your barristas.

    Can’t recommend enough!

It really is awesome, I can 4th that one, sick coffee skills.

Yep, I have been there a few times now and their coffee rules!

It is good and you can avoid having to deal with the hipster rudeness of Qualia coffee up the street.

At Qualia, we try to cater to all our customers’ needs, so please inform us which form of rudeness you prefer on your next visit. We are currently featuring sassy-Latina rudeness, grumpy-curmudgeon rudeness, and coffee-snob rudeness. We are also running a special on I’m-having-a-bad-day-and-you-are-a-prick-who-thinks-the-world-revolves-around-you rudeness.

I went in for the first time this morning. Super friendly staff and great coffee. It will now be my first stop on my morning commute to work.

  • I bought a bag of beans from them and some cinnamon donuts. The coffee was incredible, and I am hooked. The donuts weren’t bad either. So glad to have these folks nearby!

I do not agree that Columbia Heights Coffee is awesome. And, I have given them many chances over the past 6 years that I have been their neighbor. They may or may not be open when they say they open in the morning – this has happened on numerous occasions; the service is incredibly slow (this might work for you if you are hanging out to study, but if you have to get to work, it doesn’t), the signage and decor is pretty haphazard; the food isn’t great and oh yeah either is the coffee! I realize they are a small business, but they have lost mine. Welcome tryst coffee (@the Coupe) and Paisley Fig!

I really, really want to love CH Coffee but after 5 years of trying their awful coffee I give up. Looking forward to trying this place.

That sounds great! What time do they open? Is there wifi?
