Something about this rings too good to be true (or normal/high for five years ago). The lack of pictures leads me to believe there’s something off.

I lived in this English basement studio for over 3 years until moving out in November. It’s a great little space and the listed price is exactly what I was paying for over a year; I’m really surprised they didn’t raise the rent. And, the listing agent is the landlord’s regular agent so it’s not a scam. It’s definitely a studio, though–not a 1 bedroom. But, it’s a decent size for a studio. I fit 17 boxes of stuff in the kitchen where there is lots of cupboard space. In the living space, I had a queen-sized bed, night stand, desk, shoe rack, full-sized futon, TV stand, end table, 2 bookshelves, & a treadmill. That was probably more furniture than I would recommend but it’s definitely spacious enough for a sleeping area & a living area. Another plus is that you’re completely separate from the rest of the house so utilities aren’t split, you have your own washer/dryer & dishwasher, and there’s no inside connection between the spaces. I also liked having a little porch outside where I grew veggies & flowers in pots during the summer and could sit and read. A drawback is that there is only 1 small closet but you do have a little extra storage space in the closet containing the water-heater & A/C unit. The other drawback is that the landlords have been wanting to sell the house so your landlords could change (I got along well w/ the current owners so this disappointed me) and you have to contend w/ people coming to look at the house. I’m not sure if it’s still on the market, though, so this may have changed. If you’re looking for pics, PoP posted the house listing a few months ago and there were pics available there. You’re only 3 blocks from U St–close enough to enjoy the area but far enough away that the street is pretty quiet. And, the neighbors are all really great & friendly! All-in-all, it’s a great studio apartment and I enjoyed my 3+ years there.
