You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. But please no personal attacks and no need to correct people’s grammar. This is a place to vent and/or celebrate things about daily life in DC.

Ever read a police report, especially when you were a victim or witness?
My spouse...
A lot has changed in this neighborhood since you lived here four years ago. Sure the area...
Just moved into my new condo in dc and it's been over two weeks and I still have not...
It's summertime, school is out and it's the weekend. Wife and I were comnig home last...
murder is always scary and horrible. always.
Rant: Having to go in to work downtown today… I mean seriously, How does this make sense?!
Rave: At least I got to park in the garage after navigating several blocked streets, hopefully I’ll be able to get out around 5pm, metro is gonna be impossible as an alternative option.
That’s crazy. Our office is a couple miles away from the events and we still had the option of working from home. I normally walk to work, though, so I had no reason to not come in.
…..And a peaceful Martin Luther King, Jr Day too. May we find a bit of time to reflect on what the day stands for and how we can ALL benefit from his words and teachings.
RANT: video and audio not working on the sole Jumbotron near the Washington Memorial. SERIOUSLY?!? Hundreds of thousands of people dumbfoundedly staring into the cold, not understanding more than two or three words of each speech. Such a huge letdown and disappointment. I hope someone loses their job (abd lucrative contract) over this debacle. We should have stayed home and slept.
Yeah – we need heads on pikes. (Seriously – this was a major – no excuse major fuck up.)
Exactly. This is the single biggest, most important event you need to do correctly this year and they totally screwed it up. Such incompetence.
We tried to leave that area and get into the other non-ticketed areas on the mall, but security wasn’t letting anyone through once the main event began.
We eventually walked by the Jumbotron truck and the employes were messing around with a small satellite dish on a tripod, no bigger than a DirectTV dish you would have installed on your roof. Apparently, the cloud cover was screwing with the wireless signal. I was dumbfounded that they didn’t have a hardwired connection for such a big event. It was definitely a “DUH” moment.
Totally screwed up is a bit of an exaggeration. Except for the jumbotron failure, which sadly affected and disappointed many, the event went smoothly for most people attending.
Kindly please STFU.
I don’t think telling someone to shut up, with or without the profanity, is appropriate. Even with the please.
zero,
so don’t act like a drama queen.
Rant: Being stuck inside with a sick child for 3 days, missing all the inaugural fun.
Rave: Antibiotics for child sick with scarlet fever and a television to watch the festivities.
Scarlet fever??? – wow – no idea that it still even existed! wishing you the best!
Jumbotron fail @ Washington Monument.
If you had to go to work downtown today, your boss is definitely a dick.
kind of depends what the job is.
This. My good friend had to be at work in downtown all day yesterday. She works for a strategy consulting firm that was founded and run by military veterans and former big shots from the DoD. No need for her to be there other than “just because.” They don’t even work on national security matters! I’m sure she’s definitely rethinking her career trajectory there.
She wasn’t able to take a personal day?
