looking at the pictures, it appears that the living space in the house is in fact not endless. too many walls.

  • Overall this looks nice… but when will the fad of crazy backsplashes stop??

  • Anonymous

Seeing an $800K house that would cost ~$250K max in other cities is annoying. The renovations are nice, but $800K in many other cities is a McMansion price.

Why is it annoying? When people are buying houses they are not just paying for the value of the physical house in isolation, they are also paying for its location. Lots of people want to live in DC, thus the price of the house includes the value of this feature.

Whoever buys this place needs to budget another $15k for window treatments…

Frankly, if I were looking to spend 800K on a metro-inaccessible house, it would be west of the park.

I bet you could get a similarly situation home in North Cleveland Park or near American University for around the same price. And, you can actually send your kids to school there too!

  • AngryParakeet

Yeah, just saw a historic mansion for sale in Detroit, on a canal in a very acceptable neighborhood, house in great shape – $600K. And a beauty in one of the emptier areas for $82K. BUT Detroit = no jobs

  • Love the window in the shower without privacy glass! That window is going to cause water-damage headaches for some lucky owner for years to come. Windows and showers are a really bad fit. At least glass block it!

  • If you need 5 bedrooms – very fair price.
If you want to spend $750K on a house – other options that are a better house for the money.
FWIW – currently West of Park for 5 bed/4 bath $1.15M+
