About a year ago we heard the Carving Room would be bringing “House cured and hand carved sandwiches” to 4th and H St, NW (next to Wiseguy Pizza.) Their website says:
“A neighborhood kitchen specializing in house cured and hand carved meats, homemade sides and pickled vegetables. Full bar features 10 draft beers and signature libations.”
I stopped in yesterday and the space has a great big bar and plenty of seating. I asked when in Feb. they’d be opening and they were confident it would be early Feb. Stay tuned for an exact date.

people...
I guess they'll have to just walk the half mile to the NOMA Metro or take the H St...
do all texans think the same?
i'm not sure why i get why that is relevant.
Looks good. I hope they have a decent happy hour special. Plenty of federal and state workers nearby looking for additional options.
“State workers”?
I’m all for D.C. statehood, but until that happens, wouldn’t “municipal” (or just “D.C.”) more accurate?
You are technically correct – the best kind of correct.
As a nearby worker, I’m definitely looking forward to it. Wiseguy has been an excellent addition to the neighborhood, and a block away, Absolute Noodles is a pretty nice recent addition, too.
Guess they’ll need to change the “Est. 2012″ to “Est. 2013.”
Hand carved. Using an electric deli slicer?
Looking forward to this. The neighborhood will appreciate if it’s good
