Arcuri Restaurant to Replace Kavanagh’s Pizza Pub in Glover Park

2400 Wisconsin Avenue, NW

Another new restaurant is coming to Glover Park. Restauranteur Adam Hiltebeitel tells me that he is bringing Arcuri to 2400 Wisconsin Ave, NW. He says Arcuri will be “an energetic restaurant serving American food inspired by Italian traditions” and should open in early 2013.

2400 Wisconsin Ave is home to a few restaurant including Heritage India but Arcuri will be taking over the lower level currently home to Kavanagh’s. Of course this is sad news for fans of longtime Glover Park business – Kavanagh’s Pizza Pub. While they are still open and no exact date has been picked, I’m told they will likely close at the end of the month (emails to Kavanagh’s were not returned.) Any fans of Kavanagh’s?

More info on Arcuri as they get closer to opening.

It was a favorite local watering hole for the extra thirsty (old and young) – I wonder where they will go now.
The old happy ending massage parlor next door (formerly shutter shack) is also getting a new business. A lot of the vacant storefronts are now filled – great news for GP.

I don’t think Kavanagh’s is really that old, it was something else maybe 7-8 years ago. But then again, that might be considered old to some folks!

  It was Faccia Luna for several years before that. I think that a manager of the Faccia Luna bought out the owners shortly after a fire, and the menu and decor remained largely the same (minus the name). I always did enjoy the breakfast pizzas at Kavanaugh’s brunch, though I haven’t been there in years.
  
  For a brief time, I think they were also serving Ecuadorian breakfast on weekdays for people who showed up early to wait in line at the Ecuadorian consulate down the block.

They use to have pretty good pizza but they haven’t cared for years and hence they are now closing.

Both the food and service have been declining steadily the last five years, this was bound to happen.

Ate there Sunday night and was told tomorrow, Wed Jan 30 is closing day. Sad to see such a family friendly restaurant go. Hopefully the food will taste better but that kids are still welcome!
