1900 I Street, NW
19th Bar has closed at the corner of 19th and I St, NW. On Friday a reader wrote in saying the saw furniture being carried out and when I stopped by on Saturday the space was completely empty:

We judged 19th Bar back in Nov. 2010.
It’s a pretty prime location so I’ll be sure to update when a new tenant is known.

Cheesy and cheap. Something you'd expect the Montgomery, Al. Convention's Bureau to run...
People thought it was a good look at the time.

I guess they'll have to just walk the half mile to the NOMA Metro or take the H St...
Good Riddance.
That place had good bones, but the staff/management were terrible.
One of these days someone will figure that space out. It’s one of those seemingly cursed locations.
Yeah, definitely a cursed spot
There are no cursed spots, just bad operators.
I went there all the time, since their prices were really good compared to other watering holes around downtown, for lunch, happy hour and DC United/Barra-Brava events. But their food had gone WAY downhill over the last year, which led me to believe that this was coming.
Never saw anyone there aside from kickball & softball teams drinking there after their matches on the Mall. But yes, I think their prices were really low compared to the nicer places around the area without having to resort to “dive bar” conditions, like Recessions.
Regardless, I never felt they had a solid business model or crowd.
It probably didn’t help that it was in such a homely building.
That place has been like 5 different bars in the last 5 years – surely someone can make this place work.
It was a convenient location and the staff were nice, but the place wasn’t well managed nor were the prices as low as other comparable places in the area. On most Fridays it was full of awful/obnoxious lawyer types.
Bars may come and go but you’ll never get rid of those kickballers.
