Thanks to a reader for sending word that the coming soon signs have gone up in the old old Balducci’s space at 3201 New Mexico Avenue, NW near American University. Their Website says they’ll be open in early 2013. We judged Wagshal’s deli at 4855 Massachusetts Ave NW here.

Kind of close to their other location. Wish they would open one east of the park. Best Deli DC’s got. At least the lines wont be so bad at their original location anymore. And I heard through the grapevine this could have a sit-down component. Could be nice place to have a beer and a sandwich.
Goal is to make it a true “neighborhood” market from what I’ve told – i.e., people can walk there. And, yes, I had heard the same about sit-down deli-type counter.
Good news! Wagshal’s is great.
