Random Reader Rant and/or Revel

You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. But please no personal attacks and no need to correct people’s grammar. This is a place to vent and/or celebrate things about daily life in DC.

  • Rant: The limo with Maryland plates that has been parked in the same spot for 10 days on 13th St one block from U St Metro between Sand T. Zone 1 two hour parking limit! I’ve put in numerous parking enforcement requests at 311 online and most get closed with “No violation observed.” One lied and said he was there at 8:25 am and the limo was just pulling out and leaving. I left for work at 8:45 and it was still in the same spot. Tried a ROSA violation request this morning since it has been there so long. Again, why free parking for a Maryland business?

Rant: I have a headache, again. I feel like I’ve been sick all winter.

Rave: I’ve got some books by my favorite author, Scott Westerfeld, to keep me company.

Rant: Said books are YA so I’m blowing through them way faster than I want,

Rave: but they are just so good.

  • Rant: On my bike in Columbia Heights. Driver behind me honked and yelled “get in the bike lane” (and out of the road). I pointed to the truck parked in the bike lane – driver said “that’s still your lane, get out of the road.”

Driving while impaired with stupidity – that’s what I would charge her with.

    • How dare that car driver get mad at a slow lumbering vehicle blocking her lane while you were getting mad at slow lumbering vehicle blocking your lane. The NERVE of some people!

      • how do you know the biker was mad?
anyway, blocking the bike lane by double parking is illegal. a biker using the road to bike is not. the driver was the one in the wrong. whether you like it or not.

      • Except I was keeping up with traffic and wasn’t blocking “her” lane at all.

  • Rave: The ballet troops at the Kirov Academy really lifted my spirits. Had no idea there were so many talented dancers there.

  • This picture reminds me of “The Craft” movie. “Hail to the Guardians of the Watchtowers of the East – powers of air and invention! Hear us!”
