We were packed last night at my bar and I made bank. First good night in a while.
Rant: I’ve contact approximately 8 contractors for some pretty straightforward kitchen renovations. 3 have responded. What’s with that?
The truth? You are a victim of the manic real estate and job market in the DC metro. Contractors in the DC area have never been more flush, they have to beat new work away with a stick. Consequently, they can and are, very choosey in the work they accept. Contractors really don’t want a small job. They want something substantial that will keep them busy for awhile and carries larger profit. It’s the nature of the beast. In a couple years when the real estate and construction market cools, you will have contractors beating down your door.
3 have responded? That’s actually great!
To bad they don’t have more programs for our youth
Not Rant nor Revel: has anyone had any success stories qualifying for a 203k loan? Would this loan product be perfect for buying a shell for a full rehab? There is a house on my block that I’m interested in. Thanks for any replies.

It’s too bad Lindsay Lohan doesn’t live in New Jersey, where there is a three strikes law, rather than New York. I’m so sick and tired of seeing her on tv every other week breaking another law and receiving pity and a slap on the wrist.

Has anyone recently dealt with EJF as property managers in DC? I am thinking about renting an apartment from them but I’m hesitant because of terrible things I’ve read online. Thanks!!
