  • Is this incident at all affiliated with Indulj? Because, as I’m sure some of you know, a triple-shooting in the same area on the following night resulted from a fight at Indulj.

  • MPD does an awesome job finding stolen vehicles. Too bad the US Prosecuters usually just let the perps walk with literally no penalty at all, as they did with the kid who stole my car!!

  • “Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle”? What a joke!

    • I wonder if that’s just the charge to hold/book them while they put together a case for a charge of theft, since technically you could be out and about driving a stolen car without being the same person who actually stole it.

      • Allison

I think in other jurisdictions driving a stolen car where they’re not sure if you stole it might be called “theft by receiving” but that’s what I learned watching Cops.

… good thing I’m not going to be a criminal lawyer!

  • I’m honestly surprised this car wasn’t in a chop shop by now. Seems like the guys who stole this car were not too smart. Most cop cars are now equipped with the automatic scanners that read all the license plates around them and instantaneously check the info with a database for stolen vehicles, outstanding warrants, unpaid registration, etc.

You’re an idiot if you’re on the road more than 45 minutes with a stolen car & the original tags.

  • That neighborhood is a dumping ground for stolen cars, it seems. MPD found our stolen car about two blocks from 21st and C NE, and we know someone else whose stolen car was found in that area.

  • Meanwhile, Metro Police let a cell phone thief get away:
