A reader sends word that there is a row house fire on the 1800 block of 1st Street, NW. @IAFF36 tweets:
“House Fire – 1810 1st St NE – 2-story, middle of the row, heavy fire showing 1st fl, WORKING FIRE”
“Update – 1810 1st St NE – search on 1st fl revealed body found, deceased, continuing search”
“Update – 1810 1st St NE – fire knocked down, ventilating, 1 fatality on 1st fl, 2nd fl clear, cont search in bsmt”

Live in a connecting alley to the house. The firefighters and a few neighbors were saying that the resident exited the house and went back in to retrieve something. Can’t believe he gave his life to retrieve something.

Is this rumor or fact, that the deceased was going back to get his dog?!?! As a dog owner living in B’dale, I tend to know people through their dogs. Any idea of the dogs name or breed. Sorry to have to ask, but sorry to hear of a fatality to begin with. Very saddening!
Let’s try this for the third time. I heard it on the street. Thus, I’d say it’s a rumor at this point.
