“Dear PoPville,
I was wondering if you have any info about the restaurant going in at the corner of Georgia and Lamont?”
The restaurant moving into the former Brown’s Caribbean Bakery at 3301 Georgia Ave, NW is from the owner of the El Floridano food truck. Back in July we learned from their Kickstarter campaign:
Mothership will be a restaurant and bakery in what was formerly a carry-out space on Georgia Avenue. With community tables, weekend brunch and family-friendly BBQs, we hope Mothership will be a community cornerstone and meeting place. Chef/Owner Stephan Boillon will offer delicious baked goods & pastries, gourmet pizzas, small plates and seasonal tasting menus, designed to showcase great ingredients.
By preparing farm-to-table, seasonal ingredients, sustainable seafood, and pastured meats, we will provide good wholesome food to upper Georgia Avenue in an inviting neighborhood space. Our goal is to give our patrons tasty and unique food options, whether they are eating a vegan, vegetarian, pescaterian or omnivorous diet.

Went there with my three year old yesterday (thanks to POP for mentioning the 50% off)....
Everyones a foodie.
Yeah, I've been making that walk for the past ten years, and I always walk on the north...
What do you expect? Think of that intersection: It's the epicenter to Shaw, U street,...
Love Quarry House and Jackies in Downtown Silver Spring. Can't wait for this new location
Well, all right, starchild
Citizens of the universe, recording angels
We have returned to claim the pyramids
Partying on the mothership
I am the mothership connection
Gettin’ down in 3-d, light year groovin’
All right, hear any noise
Like nobody but me and the boys
Gettin’ down, hit it fellas
If you hear any noise
It’s just me and the boys
Hit me, you gotta hit the band
Hmm, let’s see here… I’ll have the P-Funk. And how is it prepared? Oh, yes, I would like it uncut.
Really looking forward to this place. It appears it will be a unique moderately priced joint and I will definitely give it a try!
Also appears the Vue next door (http://neighborhooddevelopment.com/ndc-projects/vue-georgia-avenue/) is setting up to begin soon with the fence and dumpsters in place for demo!
Sounds interesting. I love the Floridano truck.
However someone needs to re-think referring to GA and Lamont as “upper GA” avenue. Even if you only consider the parts in the district, it’s “lower-mid” GA Ave. at best.
Sounds good, but I wish it was farm-to-table-to-farm. Let’s complete the cycle, guys! It’s the ideal way to support a productive ecosystem.
Like having compost toilets to take patrons’ s*** and use it as fertilizer?
(Isn’t it illegal to use human waste as fertilizer, though? Or were you joking?)
The Park View neighborhood blog said Stefan was hoping to open in February…fingers crossed!
