Great American Square Dance Revival:

St. Stephens Church
1525 Newton St. NW
Saturday, December 1st, 2012
8:30pm – 11:30pm | $5

Come ring in the holiday season with us at the Great American Square Dance Revival, Saturday, December 1st! There’s nothing like a foot-stomping, rollicking, barn-shaking dance party to ward off the winter chills and get you to feelin’ right. In the tradition of Appalachian-style community square dances, we’ll have a live string band and a caller to guide you along – no experience needed. Just walk on in and dance!

This time around, Richmond caller Grant Hunnicutt & friends will be teaching us the moves, with sweet string-band tunes by the Weiss Guys – that’s Leah Weiss on fiddle, Gary Wright on guitar, Kate Brett on banjo, and Kevin Enoch on bass. We’ll be churning out the dances and jams and serving up wassail (!) from 8:30 until 11:30 p.m. As always, $5 from you helps us pay the band and the hall. Feel free to bring drinks or snacks to share, potluck-style.

Folks from outside the neighborhood, we recommend taking the metro! St. Stephens is a short walk from the Columbia Heights station on the green line.

See all of tonight’s and the week’s events here.  To add your event, click the events tab up top and then click “add an event”.  You can add concerts, museum/gallery exhibits, fundraisers, sporting events, bike rides etc. You can add anything you think will be of interest to PoPville.

Paddlestar Galactica helps keep writing education 100% free and accessible for all of our students! It’s also extremely fun.

This year’s games will be Saturday, April 27th, 1 PM to 4 PM at SPIN DC. It’ll be a chaotic afternoon of ping-pong, costumes, terrible Battlestar Galactica puns, and good cheer. We’d love to have you join us!
