1817 Columbia Rd, NW
On Wed. we took a look at the menu and starting at 5pm tonight you can have a taste. From a press release:
TAAN, a modern Asian noodle shop inspired by traditional izakayas and ramen shops, will be opening up in Adams Morgan at 1817 Columbia Rd NW (next door to Cashions and Mintwood Place).
Executive Chef Jonathan Bisagni has composed a menu that will consist of kushiyaki, onigiri, various small plates, and three types of ramen: pork based, duck based, and vegetarian. With work stints at Kushi Izakaya and Sushi, Morimoto Waikiki, Sticky Rice (RVA,DC, and Baltimore), and Toki Underground diners can expect a well-executed, young perspective of the Asian dining world.
TAAN’s grand opening will be this Friday, November 2, 2012.
We’ll revisit for a proper judging when they’ve been open for a few weeks. Looks promising:

Aww, poor palace of wonders, and its later names. I thought it was only extra burnery on...
Is bocce a bro thing now? That's really disappointing. I was looking forward to coming...
Biking in compounds the problem. You feel great and dry the entire ride while there is...
There is one rose bush I walk by on my way to the bus stop that just perfumes the whole...
If somebody made wrap dresses out of Under Armour material, I would buy 3 or 4.
Psyched for duck so close to my place. Bye-bye extra cash.
Duck is the best meat of all time. So underrated.
I ate there last night, and it was very good. They need a spicy sauce you can add, like the “endorphine” sauce at Toki or the spicy powder at Sakuramen.
also tried it last night – mase-men ramen was delicious although be aware that it doesn’t come with much broth (the idea is that it comes with all the meats so is meat heavy, broth light. if one desires he/she can order extra broth for an extra $2 which puts the price at $17!! pretty steep for ramen but i suppose they are trying for the “gormet ramen” angle. i’d love a simple, cheap ramen shop like the ones found all over japan…
