New Hawk n Dove Sign Sprouts on the Hill

Back in Aug. 2011 we learned that the Hawk n Dove at 329 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE had sold to Xavier Cervera and would undergo extensive renovations. Looks like they’re getting close to finishing as a new sign has gone up. Stay tuned.

“Since 1967″ is a bit disingenuous, I think. It’s going to be absolutely nothing like the original, and obviously they haven’t remained in continuous operation since then.

What are you talking about? They’ve always served two dozen different regional craft beers on tap, offered small plates, and had an airy, open space to bob your head to the latest Deadmau5 single. You just don’t remember.

    • That was my first thought too. Sad that the real Hawk ‘n’ Dove is no more.

Not really. I rememeber starchy, bland forgettable food.

Wasn’t the original Hawk n’ Dove just a trashy bar where interns went to get hammered and staffers went for bipartisan hookups? Nostalgia’s cool and I think I remember it being a fun dive bar, but let’s not get carried away. Probably needed a closed year just to clean up the crushed political dreams and dried party liquids.

Maybe, but this guy’s restaurant concepts all have a reputation for being mediocre and exactly like one another.

Yo anonymous. His places range from Irish pubs to oyster bars to Tex-Mex to gastro-pub to local bar to Barbecue etc. etc. The only thing that’s the same are your lame comments

Nice to know you guys won’t be coming! Place looks awesome. Haters go elsewhere !

No accouncements about Suna opening tomorrow? I live a block away and couldn’t believe it was right under our noses the whole time! Super-sneaky of them to disguise the location as an Aqua Al 2 expansion (though I’m disappointed that Aqua isn’t adding a second level after all).

    The burgers were great
