Uh, that outdoor pool really won’t sell me on the place as the temperature drops!

Um, what’s with the shirtless guy in the patio picture?

  • where is the magical underground tunnel???

Seems ok to me. That area probably isn’t for everyone, but for those who don’t need or want to be right in the thick of a hot neighborhood and its nightlife, it looks pleasant enough. The patio would be nice for growing tomatos and herbs, although I have a thing about ground floor apartments, so it wouldn’t be for me. Wish the listing had included photos of the kitchen and bathroom, though.

Question: what’s a “junior 1-bedroom” in DC real estate lingo? From the mention of the pocket doors for the bedroom, I wonder if this is basically a studio with a sleeping alcove for the bed? My last apartment (in another city) was billed as a Jr 1-bedroom, but in that case it meant a separate (and full-sized) bedroom but no separate kitchen (ie, the kitchen was along one of the short walls of the living room).

Amazing price. It’s a wonder what reserving a neighborhood for showcasing late 1960s “concrete jungle” architecture does for desirablity.

the architecture is unfortunate but thank god there’s something somewhere taking a bit of pressure off DC rents

Van Ness has potential, but always felt it failed to live up to it. It’s not far from Downtown — an easy three stops on Metro to Dupont and an even quicker bikeshare ride. As for that building, never been inside but always thought it needs to be torn down and rebuilt. It’s time.

There are bargains to be had in this area, mostly because it’s kind of dull. Not a lot of nightlife or dining options, but the other amenities are there, and it’s pretty close to downtown.
