  • Decent space in a good neighorhood that’s relatively affordable. Looks good to me.

I’d much rather live here than a basement in Logan/Shaw. But, that’s just me.

  • Deal! Looks to be above ground and gets plenty of light. These old buildings have large layouts and the free gym is a awesome. Would also be very easy to sublet this if you’re traveling a lot for work.

The walk to the subway is probably 8 minutes or so; could be a bit closer.

  • This is a real deal. Why does CP always seem to have cheap rentals?

    • Tons of big, old, classic buildings with 100+ apartments in each building. I imagine that the vacancy rates are higher up there than the areas around Dupont, Columbia Heights, Adams Morgan, and Logan which are much more central to buzz of the city.

      • i second that. btw is $1650 cheap?

      • this has never made sense to me. i live in the area, and being one stop away from the “buzz,” (or really close to adams morgan) while still paying a whole lot less seems like an awesome deal. especially since there’s so many amenities around here…

        • It might make sense to you to stay out of the “buzz” yet be one stop away, but there’s obviously a ton of people who want to be in the middle of it. So much so that they are willing to pay a premium.

Live wherever you’re happiest! I think Cleveland Park offers some of the best value (in terms of $ per sq ft) in all of DC for those looking to rent.

  • I lived in that building about six years ago, in a one br that from the photo looks identical to the one for rent.

This is a good deal. Utilities are included. Building has a manned front desk and a full time handyman. The one bedroom is pretty large for a 1 BR, the bedroom especially. There is a walking path on the side of the building into rock creek park. It’s literally a two minute walk if that to the Metro. It’s just on north side of Porter. Rooftop has a view of the Washington monument for 4th of July.

Couple of negatives though: The “gym” is a small room with three or four treadmills and two weight machines. The laundry room is always over-used, you usually have to wait in line to do your clothes. No parking, and street parking is hard to find, sucks for grocery shopping. Lots of weird old people live there, but that’s par for the course in a big apartment building. You also have to be very vigilant with the roaches, building has tons of ’em and you have to fight a war to keep them in other people’s places instead of yours.

    • I just moved out of this buidling in May. I found management to be OK. The handyman will sometimes say one thing and then not follow though.

Parking, isn’t really hard to find. Park on Rodman right across the street. Sometimes I had to part towards the top part of Rodman, but I never had to cross Reno to find parking. I was OK with having to walk five minutes because I always knew there would be parking and I was saving hundreds a month.

I never really experienced the laudry room being too crowded, except for may one or two times. The gym is terrible and the roof isn’t amazing, but it is fine.

Roaches: I had one and that was it.
