Random Reader Rant and/or Revel

You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. But please no personal attacks and no need to correct people’s grammar. This is a place to vent and/or celebrate things about daily life in DC.

  • Rave: Tons of great memories from a 98 win/division winning season from the Nats.
Rant: The ensuing “shouldnt have shut down Strasburg” bs that every uninformed/casual fan of baseball (ESPN included) will throw around from now until eternity.

Rave: Finished a project early, allowing me to go to the Ren Fair next weekend! (Don’t judge me. I really like eating turkey legs while watching jousting matches.)

Rant: Fell asleep on the couch last night at 10:00 desperately trying to stay up to watch the baseball game. (Why yes, I am a granny who cannot stay up past 9:30 pm easily.) Finally gave in and went to bed assuming the Nats would win, woke up to find out they didn’t. My husband (a Saint Louis native) rubbed it in by leaving me a scene to wake up to on our kitchen table– my favorite stuffed animal… wearing his cardinals baseball cap!! The horror!

That’s a totally mean and completely adorable thing for your husband to do!

Haha yeah, we have a weird thing about stuffed animals and hats. For our birthdays we always pile all the stuffed animals from all around the house on the kitchen table and put party hats on them. I guess this is what people with no pets and no friends do.

        • LOL! ( I don’t have any friends either.)

          • My girlfriend and I have birthdays coming up and we don’t have friends either. This sounds like a great alternative to rounding up a group of people we really don’t feel like hanging out with just for the sake of having a party. Of course, the dogs will get party hats too. 🙂

  • Rant: ATT and fighting their ridiculous charges for upgrading my phone and then changing all the billing options!!!

Rave: All the post photos on PoP – the variety brightens my day 🙂

  • Rant: A shipyard is trying to take title to my friend’s sweet boat. Evil incarnate!

Revel: When we bust her loose, I promise someday to bring her to this dock for a free PoP happy hour!

  • Revel: It’s. Gorgeous. Out.
    (No rant.)

Rant: I knew when I heard all the extra noise outside and the guy upstairs cussing that the Nats didn’t win.

Rave: It’s kind of neat how I can tell when something big happens in the world by the noise level outside increasing.

Rave: I can only really tell that noise outside increases in the winter time because the ac is off a window is usually open.

    • My place is the same way, and I like it. The best was on election night 2008 – I could tell as different states were called because of the cheering from the neighboring buildings.

      • Rant: Was in Mississippi (for work travel) on election night 2008. I doubt I’ll ever get to witness such a historic night in DC again.

  • Rave: The Nats.
    Rant: The Nats.

Still cant bring myself to even turn on ESPN or go to espn.com…

  • RAVE: It’s a great day for stumbling around downtown taking pictures while listening to a new audiobook: ‘The Wild Trees’ by Richard Preston.

RANT: The day isn’t long enough!
