From MPD:

This evening [Tuesday] at approximately 8:20 pm a man was robbed at knifepoint while in the hallway of an apartment building in the 3500 block of 13th Street NW. The two suspects took the man’s wallet and cell phone. They then left the building and fled on foot in different directions. The police were called and a look-out for the suspects was broadcast. Officers on patrol spotted one of the suspects and stopped him. The victim was able to positively identify him and the suspect was arrested.

The other suspect has not been caught as of yet. He is described as a black male, approximately 20 years old, medium build, medium complexion, 5’7 to 5’9 in height, wearing a black jacket, black pants, and a black knit hat

Anyone with information about his case is asked to call 727-9099

  • Too much of this lately, esp. right around 3500 blk of 13th and 14th St. Police need to be more visable and walk around, not just drive around. Its funny how the ” Officers on patrol spotted one of the suspects and stopped him” as if the police knew who to look for. They know who the “regulars” are.

  • The rise in incidents here is really upsetting. I’ve lived on this block for 7 years and it has grown dramatically–but has maintained a lot of older residents while welcoming families. Except for a few very random, and occasional, car break-ins a few years back, I have never really seen such frequent muggings. There was also an attempted mugging on Holmead between Park and Monroe at around 6pm last week. The blocks bordered by Otis at the north, Park at the south, and 14th to 13th West-East could use better foot patrolling as retail and increase in foot traffic have made them prime targets for snatch-and-grabs and holdups at all hours of the day.

  • If you really care about this write your council rep and demand tougher penalties for criminals. We might not be able to fix societies ills but we can keep them off the street.

I wrote to Muriel Bowser but never heard back.
