I had a Yorkie and it pains me to recall thoughts of when my see you next Tuesday gf left...
I hope your prayers are answered.
Our thoughts are with you.
"Boot camp" groups. My hardcore running friends always complain about them. They clog up...
Gathering in one place to show respect for those who served their country is thoughtful....
Anything that helps drivers recognize bike lanes is an improvement. Now let’s hope they hit 11th St. (and Sherman, if they ever finish repairing it) with the same paint.
Yes. Hope to see all bike lanes like this.
I don’t know. It looks a little bit like Juarez to me…
+1
This needs a tumblr.
hahaha +1
+1000
That means I can drive my car in the bike lane now, right? Green = shared with cars, no color=bike only?
If you’re turning right here, you’re supposed to merge into the bike lane. Painting it green makes this point confusing. Not sure why they did this here.
Actually I take my previous post back. The sign in the top picture indicates where the right turn lane is to start, which is well into the intersection and would mean you are not to merge with the bike lane ahead of time if turning right. This is contrary to how these dashed bike lanes usually work.
Really important to note that this was where 22 year-old Alice Swanson was killed by a garbage truck in 2008. RIP. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/10/AR2009091003213.html

It looks like they’ve also painted the bike lane on R St., NW between RI Ave. and 7th St. Must have happened over the weekend?
And by 4th and RI Ave NE.
Still saw cars in the bike lanes this AM though.
Sorry, no. Drivers don’t drive in bike lanes. Ever. That white line makes sure of it.
Sorry, no. You’re wrong. Drivers must merge into bike lanes before turning right.

Sorry, no. Squaredeal has it right. The white line forms an invisible force-field impenetrable to motorized vehicles. This new green paint is rather dangerous, IMHO, as it goes a step further and physically repels them. Stand back!
Painted bike lanes definitely stand out and seem to be safer. All over the place in Europe and Canada, the bike lanes are painted brick red. And people are a lot more respectful of cyclists’ space. But then again, people in most other places are more respectful of the rights of others than they seem to be here.
kinda reminds me of the ‘turbo boost’ lane that you can use on 80′s racecar games like Rad Racer
Noticed they have these green sections painted at the South Cap and I St. intersection also, as of last night.
I’m glad I don’t drive OR ride a bike in this city!
Yes! As a daily commuter down R st, I feel much safer riding my bike with the green block path.
