Besides the floating kind, these are among my favorite houses in SW:

I'm not sure who all these people are who are suggesting to park at DC USA. I just...
Work across the street. Business never appears to be THAT good (ie saddest bar/club I've...
Sure, transfer the title, registration, and insurance to someone who doesn't own or drive...
Mat, Thanks again for your support; and your point is well taken.
"Used to live," not "used the live." I hate blackberrys.
I miss hearing the wild cats...
Disqualification. Whatever this “thing,” it is not a house.
Perhaps repost in “What the Helen of Troy is This?”
Ah, the beautiful results of urban renewal.
These “things” are the River Park coop townhouses and they’re amazing! They were designed by the same architect who designed the old DCA terminal as a partnership with Reynolds aluminum. I’ll live in one someday.
I see them for sale all the time, for not much money. They’re pretty spacious inside, but all that older glazing must mean they’re pretty energy inefficient.
sure they’re not typical houses, but i don’t understand your post.
I think PoP was alluding to his houseboat-related “House of the Day” post from Monday (?) and other recent posts stemming from the houseboat tour thing in SW this past weekend.
Had a friend who rented one of these in the 80s. It was modern, cool and spacious then. Very hip place to live. Even the waterfront mall wasn’t half bad then.
Have a coworker (architect) who lives in one of these. Really wonderful interiors.
I looked at one of these when it was for sale a few years back. Agree with Andy above that they can be really cool inside. I sort of loved it, actually, but just ultimately decided I didn’t want to deal with a coop board when there were so many single family houses available.
Love these!
Damn! I’ve been trying to keep River Park a secret. They do sell pretty inexpensively, but there are are huge co-op fees (admittedly they cover property tax, and water/gas). Still, I plan to live her someday in the not so distant future. These homes along with the Tiffey condos on Arkansas ave are mid-century DC at its best!
You should check out the rowhouses on Harvard street near the Zoo. I think you’d be a fan!

LOL. And I always thought this was a police station.
I’ve always loved these places. The back garden spaces are amazing too. For the haters, find some RE listings and take a look at the interiors – you might change your minds!
Seriously? Washingtonians don’t recognize the work of Charles Goodman?

Obviously, everyone’s tastes are different, but I love these homes (exterior and interior – a close friend grew up in one).
The monthly fees here are truly discouraging, but I believe the Association had to re-group after decades of financial mismanagement (there was a Washington Post article about them a couple of years ago).
Of course, as soon as the monthly fees are more reasonable, the price of these houses will rocket out of my reach, anyway.
I would love to see photos of the inside!
Er… Historical, famous architect, nice on the inside. These joints are as attractive as Marion B in skinny jeans
