1654 Columbia Rd, NW
Back in July we learned Shawarma King had closed and would be replaced by Doner Bistro at 1654 Columbia Road, NW. I got a sneak peek yesterday and the place looks very cool:

Check out the chandelier:

If all goes well they should open on Thursday. You can see their menus here.

In addition to Foosball they’ll also be showing German soccer matches (Bundesliga) on tv.

Can anyone guess what these are?

And remember:

This place is gonna be awesome!

The Union Kitchen Food Incubator is next door: http://www.unionkitchendc.com/
That would hurt the owner of the car being parked more than the valet parking...
seriously how does this work? Just fence off a block and have a party? Somewhat random...
I see 35 open air bathrooms in that photo. Be creative.
+1,000. Need a gym in Shaw, please! A real/normal gym, not just a boutique studio for...
I am excited to give this a try.
Döner – it’s what’s for dinner.
Döner saved my life on time at Oktoberfest, no joke.
Looks awesome. They’ll make a killing feeding the drunk crowd that needs to sober up before the drive back to the ‘burbs on the weekend.
Love me some proper doner. Hopefully they’ll make it Berlin-style.
Nah, Istanbul style please.
Yes.
The have wurst but no sauerkraut?!
Excited to try this place.
Will we be allowed to order in German?
Ein doener und ein Jever, bitte!
Only Turkish is allowed: Bir tane döner kebabi, bir tane Efes birasi lutfen.
Good luck with that.
I hope it’s as good as it looks, because that location has housed a series of great ideas that have ultimately failed.
Döner was my favorite meal in Munich.
I hope there’s a lot of seating/space upstairs or in the back that we can’t see? They have all those beers and their beer special, but I’m not seeing anywhere to consume it.
It’s probably just me, but I find the name somewhat unfortunate. Even though the spelling is off by one letter, I couldn’t help but think of the Donner party. But it also made me laugh.
Those are some good burgers, Walter.
Leesburg location is awesome!
Why oh why can’t someone open up something that isn’t falafel/gyro or pizza? Wouldn’t something that added variety to the options already on 18th/Columbia be better?
What’s stopping you from opening that kite store?
Prince of Petworth, thanks for keeping the community aware of what we’re up to. We had an amazing opening on Thursday and business has been fantastic every day since! A lot of people say we have you to thank. So, thank you!
If you’re around Wednesday I’d like to meet you. I’ll be there till 5pm. If not tomorrow, stop by Thursday or Friday. I’ll be closing both nights. Just ask for Rob. I’m the manager and will be handling promotions and events.
Prost!
