  • So does that mean this development is dead or on-hold? Douglas was supposed to tear down the garage to make way for this:

Also, I would assume that this would affect the Eagle next door as well:

    • I am also wonder what’s the status of this development. Seem like a decent development; would have been great for NY Ave.

  • DOUBLE the cult!

  • I am surprised about their new location. Seems very out of the way, but its great to see that area developing (or start to).

  • WOD! WOD! WOD!

Scientology vs. Cross-fit – who would win the battle???

  • crossfit is quite an effective and fun work out. some people get really into it, no more than other people who do other “non cult” things like run 10 miles or even 26 miles, or play golf. i dont see the difference. some people just get committed to things, talk about it too much, and buy too much equipment. crossfit is not unique in this regard

not everybody who does crossfit is a workout and diet obsesssive. i go a couple times a week for an hour and play hockey or other sports a couple times a week. my limited crossfit engagement has greatly improved my endurance and speed for the other sports. you learn to do very effective lifts like squats and deadlifts correctly so you dont hurt yourself. that is the main thing i got out of it. i could have learned on youtube maybe, but it helps to have someone who knows what they are doing watch you.

i can do crossfit and still subscribe to the Kenny Powers philosophy “I play real sports, not tryin to see who’s the best at exercisin”. i probably shouldnt listen to a fat fictional pitcher. however, if i ever got to the point where i could squat 300 or something pounds, i might get pretty into crossfit to show off my particular set of skills.

basically it can be as cultish as you want it to be. regardless, it will be an effective non tedious workout and you will be in and out in a hour

  • This is really good news! Especially since Balance Gym is closing the Kalorama location that housed Crossfit Dupont and afaik CfD won’t be opening anywhere else. I was wondering yesterday while working out there where the CfD refugees would go. Wonder if CfD closing had any bearing on District Crossfit keeping this location open?
