Dupont’s Jewish Deli is “wrapping up construction” at 1317 Connecticut Avenue, NW. The folks at DGS Delicatessen tell me that they are working on getting water service into the space (see photo above.) And while they couldn’t give me an exact opening date, on their facebook page they say – “We are trying our hardest to open the first week of November.”
And they got a new sign:

You can also still a sign for their namesake at 5th and Rhode Island Ave, NW in Shaw:

The Union Kitchen Food Incubator is next door: http://www.unionkitchendc.com/
That would hurt the owner of the car being parked more than the valet parking...
seriously how does this work? Just fence off a block and have a party? Somewhat random...
I see 35 open air bathrooms in that photo. Be creative.
+1,000. Need a gym in Shaw, please! A real/normal gym, not just a boutique studio for...
I think they need to change their webpage banner. “Coming Summer ’12?”

Like the streetcars, just assume it’s 3012.
that is being very generous for the streetcars
I hope it’s as authentic as possible. And that includes not being exorbitantly overpriced.
You can have it authentic, cheap, or inspired. Pick two.
So when the pastrami sandwich is $15.95, like Katz’s in NY, you won’t be complaining?
If, like the sandwiches you get at the delis in New York, it’s big enough to feed a family of four, then no.
Why would you expect to get a NY deli sandwich in DC? And the huge sandwiches at Carnegie Deli are close to $30, not $15.
Carnegie’s pastrami is $16.95.

How ’bout you let them get open before you start complaining? Just a thought.
