Uptown Tap House Opening Sept. 13th in Cleveland Park

Thanks to all who wrote in about the Uptown Tap House grand opening in the former 4Ps space this Thursday. Their Web site says:
Uptown Tap House is a new concept located in the Cleveland Park area of Washington, D.C focused specializing in providing a legendary, casual dining experience. We will offer a sophisticated selection of locally inspired seafood dishes, American fare, an expedition raw bar, and a refined, upscale beverage program.
Along with legendary service, Uptown Tap House also features, weekly live music and entertainment, daily happy hour paired with nightly specials, a covered patio seating area, and a private party and event space featuring it’s own private bar area.
Sister restaurant to Midtown’s Sign of the Whale, Uptown Tap House is located at 3412 Connecticut Avenue. Gut renovated with marble bar tops, 20 HD televisions, hardwood floors and private event space, the tap house will soon be your favorite destination for dining, sports and drinks with friends.

I don’t have high hopes for this place. It’s opening in three days, and the exterior still looks like crap. They couldn’t have done much with the inside in this short a time, either.
Not sure what part of it is a “new concept” either. Pretty sure I can name about 40 similar places within half a mile.
Happy Hour until 8PM. ‘Nuf said.
I mean this place would really have to really really suck for me to pay double price for the same thing across the street.

The beer list seems pretty uninspired for a place called the tap house.
What’s an “inspired” beer list? What does that even mean? I don’t drink to get inspired. I drink to get drunk and I sure as hell don’t want a beer list that thinks it’s better than I am. Because I’ll kick its f**king ass.

Apparently whoever wrote the website language has no idea what “legendary” means. I will bet my house and my first-born child that there will never, ever be anything legendary about this place. It will clearly be another faceless, unremarkable, and probably mediocre place with lots of beer and TVs. In other words it will be just like many other places in D.C.

And im not usually sensetive to drink names i.e Irish car bomb. But when you name a drink (sunday bloody sunday) after a massacre in which innocent men women and CHILDREN were MURDERED it not only shows great stupidity but also that zero though has gone into this place! What next ’9/11′ cocktails? ‘Dead soldiers’ for happy hour??? Unbelieveably insensitive!!

Whilst i dislike the name ‘Irish car bomb’ My issue is with the fact that the name of the drink refers to a specific incident. The Chipotle that opened up is a ghost town, so I don’t have high hopes for this one either.

So that’s what they’re putting in their food!

This place is such a disappointment. After waiting 15 minutes to check in for our reservation, the hostess has haughty and rude. I have never seen a restaurant so disorganized. It won’t last 6 months.
Everyone was extremely nice! They actually had a wine I liked. That doesn’t happen very often. It is a down to earth, clean & lively bar/restaurant.
