Toki Underground Pop Up Library
Toki Underground will be hosting a pop up library this Saturday during the H Street Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The restaurant is teaming up with the Capitol Hill Public Schools Parent Organization to raise awareness about the importance of having librarians in D.C. schools. With funding cut over the summer, 16,000 students and 57 schools are without a librarian this semester.
Toki Underground will be accepting book donations on Wednesday evening (7 p.m. to 10 p.m.), all day Friday (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.), as well as on the day of the event. For every two gently used books donated, donators will receive a $1 coupon to Toki Underground.
Please donate all books at this address:
1244 Wylie Street NEToki Underground will not be serving food during the pop up library and will reopen for service at 5 p.m.

Are they looking for any specific types of books? Are these books targeted for school-aged children? I’m always looking for places to donate my books. I buy books, but I don’t like to keep them when I am done.
BTW, the Post is reporting that DC threatened to fine the Pug $10k because it named a drink Marion Berry’s Dirty Asian Punch: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/mike-debonis/post/dc-orders-dirty-asian-punch-off-bars-menu/2012/09/12/3f7e9188-fc4d-11e1-8adc-499661afe377_blog.html
And the “No tickee, no punchee,” racist doodle with slanted eyes and buck teeth. And I don’t care if he has Asian friends, Toki is upstairs or is 25% asian it’s still offensive (to an Asian; couldn’t care less about Barry)
