1710 Connecticut Avenue, NW
Back in Aug. 2010 the Pleasure Place closed at at 1710 Connecticut Ave, NW in north Dupont Circle. For a while it looked like a new market from the owners of Toscana Cafe would be opening in the space but that seemed to have fallen through in Dec. 2011. Now a new liquor license application has been posted for a proposed liquor store. Proposed hours are Monday through Saturday 9 am to 10 pm. More info as it becomes available.

You used to be able to go there and buy something to get drilled; now you can get hammered instead.

This building is work of the devil. I will be praying for the salvation of this city.
The market concept would have been nice. There are already 7 or 8 liquor stores within a half mile radius of Dupont Circle. It’s really amazing that this prime piece of real estate sat vacant for more than 2 years. The rent must be ridiculously high.
Agreed, we have more than enough liquor stores here. At least it’s not another froyo shop, cell phone store, bank or Comfort One…I guess. I’m still holding out hope that we will get something original in the old Melody Records space, but it’ll probably be a froyo shop, cell phone store, bank, or Comfort One.
