3522 12th St, NE
Back in Aug. 2011 we learned that Little Ricky’s Cuban-American restaurant was coming to the former Tropicana Eatery space at 3522 12th St, NE. I spoke with workers at the space and they said they’d be open in about two weeks. Looks very promising! Stay tuned.

I had to google paladar. Interesting concept…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paladar
“Paladar (plural: paladares) is a term used in Cuba to refer to restaurants run by self-employers.[1] Mostly family-run businesses, paladares are fundamentally directed to serve as a counterpart of state run restaurants for tourist seeking for a most vivid interaction with Cuban reality, and looking for homemade Cuban food.”
As a native Spanish speaker (not cuban).. Paladar means palate, and it is used like taste buds.
Not in Cuba, at least not in this sense (coming from a Cuban native Spanish speaker). In Cuba, paladares are small restaurants usually run out of someone’s home, think something like Thai Xing, that may or may not be licensed by the government (used to all be illegal).
Looking forward to giving it a try.
Yum! I’m looking forward to eating there!
Me too!! Cuba Libre is such a disappointment.
I had to look up “paladar” too. looks cool!
So excited to see another sit-down restaurant open up in the neighborhood!
