This rental is located at 643 8th Street, NE:
The listing says:
“Easy off-street parking (right in front of house) 3 min walk to several bus lines 10 min walk to Union Station (Red line) 17 min walk to Eastern Market (Orange/Blue line) 5 min walk from multiple Capital Bikeshare stations”
This 3 bed/2 bath is going for $4,000/Mo.

My partner and have a similarly-sized house that’s just south of here (1 block east of Eastern Market) and we’ve had an ongoing argument about how much we could rent it for if we ever had to. She insists there’s no way we could cover our mortgage and escrow (of $3000) with the rent. Listings like this give me hope that maybe I’m not too far off base in thinking we could. But $4000 still seems too high for this location.
Also– it is refreshing to see a real estate listing that give accurate walk times. I’ve walked up here from Eastern Market many times, and it really does take only 17 minutes.
That was my first thought too! I’m so tired of this area being described as “5 minutes from Eastern Market”.
$20 says they did walking directions with Google Maps.
If it’s overpriced — and I’m not sure it is — it’s only by a couple hundred. $1200 per person sounds about right but maybe you pay a premium for getting a whole house. Seems pretty nice anyway.
I think its fairly accurate. If I were them I’d also throw in a line about proximity to H Street for good measure.
I live two blocks away, and this seems pretty fair for the neighborhood. It’s a great place to live, and everything is a quick walk/bike ride/Metro ride away. Very convenient!
i live literally 2 doors down in an identical house, we pay $3600 for the same 3 bed 2 bath setup. in my opinion union station is a 15 min walk but i have short legs.
