3162 Mt. Pleasant Street, NW
Back in July we learned that Beau Thai would be opening a 2nd location in the temporary library space at 3162 Mt. Pleasant Street, NW. Ed. Note: Many photos of the renovated library reopening today, Sept. 12th coming soon. Great to see things are moving along with Beau Thai and they’ve already applied for a liquor license:
“New Thai cuisine restaurant with sidewalk café. Number of seats is 78. Total occupancy load 99. Sidewalk Café has 30 seats.”
Very happy to hear about the sidewalk cafe too!
Any long time Mt. Pleasant residents know when was the last time a new restaurant (besides the takeout Angelicos pizza place) opened up on Mt. Pleasant Street?

I lived at Lincoln and R from June 2008 to June 2009. I personally didn't have any...
It is very surprising. There hasn't been a serious crime in this portion of eckington in...
Wow. That's horrible. I cannot believe the audacity of some people. Did she not thin you...
thanks for writing citykids! great addition!
I live a block away from that corner too... and it's the one area I try to avoid passing...
this is the tipping point.
Gosh, let’s hope so…
When is Radius coming back? And can we do anything about Best Market? I like that they’re there, but don’t so much like the rodents and smell.
It will be like Del Rey,va any year now.
Any news on Spike’s priapism themed eatery, “Thai My Pecker to My Leg?”
Wrong blog
I heard he was opening a 2 Live Crew themed Japanese soup joint, “Miso Horny.”
And a Pho place on Q Street.
And an Alice in Wonderland themed Nazi scientist vegan eatery, “The Shroomin Centipede.”
they have some pretty sweet HH deals at the Shaw location
Pretty excited to see Mt P street improving. If only radius would open back up soon also.
This is really good news for the neighborhood. Now if we could just get the burned-out ruins on Mt. P St. torn down and sold off.
Marleny’s and Pollo Sabroso (?) in the past decade. Prior to that, Tonic and Radius.
I won’t lose any sleep worrying whether Radius will return; after their change of ownership a couple years ago, their menu went downhill. Besides Angelico’s makes excellent pizza and is a lot more consistent.
Burrito Fast is also a relatively new addition to Mt P St.
And Flying Fish
Tonic, Red Bean, Radius, all of these opened (though two of them closed) within the last ten years. Former longtime resident here.
From Jim Graham:
Excellent news. The DC gov has approved the tax credit application for the Monsignor Romero building at 3145 Mt Pleasant Street. It has been a very long haul, but this tenant owned building is soon on its way to rehabilitation in service to very low income people. A victory for the tenants, the National Housing Trust and everyone who had faith that this could and would work.
What are the best restaurant options on Mt Pleasant? What are overhyped?
Love Burrito Fast and Tonic
Adam’s Express is hands down the best food in Mt. Pleasant. I don’t even live there anymore, but we go there if we need awesome Korean food.
absolutely the worst thai food in the city. it’s like they make a curry, forget the flavor, then pour in a cup of water.
Love the food at Beau Thai! Look forward to eating at the Mt. Pleasant location.
