Thanks to a couple of readers who send word that Atomic Billiards’ liquor license has been suspended for yesterday and today in Cleveland Park. Anyone know what happened?

..or bike. or bus. or drive. or cab. or walk. or stay in the neighborhood.
people...
I guess they'll have to just walk the half mile to the NOMA Metro or take the H St...
do all texans think the same?
i'm not sure why i get why that is relevant.
Frankly, as a Texan, I have never had worse enchiladas than I had at Mi Cocina. I don't...
Don’t know if it’s related to this, but there’s some comedy gold in this ABRA hearing with Atomic’s owner. ABRA came down on them because one of their ABC managers had an expired license, though the license said it expired in 2207, instead of 2007.

Lol.
Reading that makes my blood boil.
My God- that is awful. Just read the whole thing, and it’s just awful. Typical DC gov’t.
Looks like that just resulted in a $750 fine: http://dpw.dc.gov/DC/ABRA/Board+and+Legal+Findings/Board+Orders/2011+Board+Orders/October+2011/Atomic+Billiards+Corporation+-+October+19
Yep, unless they didn’t pay the fine, it’s probably not for that. Looks as if they were recently on probation for after-hours sales or something. Maybe they violated the probation.
This would be funny except for the sad truth – the fine was issued for failure to properly kiss up to an official – endemic in DC govt.
i’m skeptical of that.
Read the transcript – he was being a smart ass about the wildly incompetent DC government.
Oh my god I dealt with a case just like this a few months ago (not liquor licence, entirely different field of law) but the typo in question was 2080 instead of 2008. *Forehead slam into desk multiple times.*
I just read that whole transcript and it was hilarious. What a colossal waste of time and resources. No wonder DC gets no representation if this is any indication of how the rest of the government operates.
They could turn that into a TV show…
I don’t know if this has anything to do with it, but their Scrabble game was missing the K.
That transcript was like reading Kafka with a hangover.
Ha! I think PoP needs to institute a “comment of the day” because you sir just won.
I love it.
MS. CASPARI: “While the license’s expiration date states that it’s 2207, we will show that this expiration date is actually a typographical error because Mr. Behrens’ license was issued in 2005 and he knew that the licenses were only good for a time period of two years.”
MR. HANDWERGER: “Objection.”
INTERIM CHAIR ALBERTI: “Mr. Handwerger, you cannot object to opening statements.”
That back and forth was preceded by this gem:
MR. HANDWERGER: I’m not really familiar with how this works.
INTERIM CHAIR ALBERTI: It works much like you’ve seen a trial on TV.
The whole thing reminds me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvSx7-CTTl4
If only Cave Man Attorney had been available to represent Atomic…..
