Anyone Know Why There are Portable Toilets by the Columbia Heights Plaza?
“Dear PoPville,
I was walking through Columbia Heights and saw multiple portable toilets near the fountain. Any idea why these are there?”
Anyone know if they are for a construction project or for farmers market patrons? Something else?

I saw them on Sat., my guess is they are there because of the farmer’s market.
So people stop pissin’ in the fountain drains… They recycle that water. LOL.
I noticed that. It looks awful. I don’t understand it but it seems like there is an effort to make sure that plaza looks a ghetto as possible.

I heard that the city put those up in hopes of getting the drunkards who pee in the fountain to divert their streams here.

I’ve watched winos BATHING in the fountain. As in dropping all their clothes (fortunately keeping the undies one) on the (nasty & worn) grass and taking a shower – with a bar of soap – in that fountain.

There’s another public toilet that’s been on the corner of 14th and Irving that’s been there for years. It has glass walls, but it drops below street level for privacy when the bums take a leak.

They bring the porta-johns in on Saturday afternoon for the 4-week Latin Dance event that has been happening the last few Saturdays. They remove them Saturday evening after the event. They set a portable stage up between the two patches of grass and people can sit on the benches around the fountain or bring chairs.
