Nage Bistro Getting Renovated in Dupont – Reopening Sept. 4th

1600 Rhode Island Avenue, NW

While the note says they are closed for summer break – all the windows are papered over and it looks like it will be renovated when they reopen Sept. 4th. You can see their menus here. Any fans?

  • Nage has really, really good food. It’s lacking in atmosphere for sure, but the food is great and the drink specials at brunch are awesome. It’s a nice place to go with a group because they can generally accommodate you. I’ve always found the wait staff to be really pleasant and accomodating too.

  • LOVE Nage. Go there, eat their food. It’s creative and (more importantly) really good. You won’t regret going. Your challenge will be leaving there having ordered only three courses for each person–the menu is that good. And, when in Rehoboth, eat at their restaurant there.

  • I hope this fixes Nage’s problems but I think there are bigger issues than the decor.

I want to like Nage, I really do. I’ve had some excellent meals there and the restaurant has a great menu. It’s close to my work and also close to where several friends live. I would go there more often if it were more reliably good.

That said, a handful of times (2 or 3 out of 7 or 8 meals) Nage has been utterly disappointing. As in food so bad I sent it back and essentially non-existant service.

I’ll give it another whirl once it reopens, but would suggest to the Nage owners if they are reading this that the restaurant needs to step up its game after renovations are complete.

  • I, too, wanted to like Nage. Went once. Which, as it turned out, was more than enough.

  • I’ve been there twice. Mixed reviews…some of the dishes were utterly FANTASTIC while others were so blah. One time the service was attentive, another time it took over two hours for lunch on a weekday, and it wasnt even all that crowded.

  • I’m really fond of Nage.

The last time I was there, I had an octopus appetizer that was absolutely amazing. Their delicious lobster mac ‘n cheese is justifiably famous, but it’s so rich I can only order it 2 or 3 times a year.

I had one badly trained waitress a couple of years ago, but the other servers have always been helpful and efficient.

  • Confirmed they are renovating. We were recently at their Rehoboth Beach location and they were talking a lot about the renovations. Sounds really cool and different with some ideas that i think are new to DC. We’ll be there in September to check it out. fyi – the Rehoboth location rocked!

  • My boyfriend and I are big fans of Nage! Delicious food, my favorite is their duck and spaetzle dish with gooseberry sauce. Yum. Servers have always been nice to us, too!

  • Love the Brunch and drinks! hope they dont chagne too much
