Lawn Decoration of the Day

The great giraffe from 15th Street, NW is starting to get covered in vines. Could look very cool when/if completely covered:

Isn’t that bindweed that is covering the statue?

It is bindweed or false morning glory. This is a relentless weed and will take over your entire yard. By the end of August that poor giraffe will be strangled by that weed.

Bindweed is the bane of my gardening existence. I will be pulling these shoots up for as long as we own our house, because digging up the entire yard about 3 feet down is the only way to get rid of it for sure. Even the nuclear strength herbicides won’t kill it (which I won’t use anyway because we eat from the garden). If you have enemies, burying a couple shoots in their hedgerow would be sweet, sweet revenge.
