Bluejacket Brew Pub Applies for Liquor License in the Boilermaker Shops (Navy Yard)

The much anticipated Bluejacket brew pub has applied for a liquor license in Navy Yard:
“This is a new restaurant serving American style cuisine with a Brew Pub. Serving beer that is brewed on site. Total Occupancy Load is 199, with 150 seats. Summer Garden with 80 seats.”
Capitol Riverfront says:
“Bluejacket will be a brewery and restaurant and the latest creation from Neighborhood Restaurant Group (Churchkey, Birch & Barley, Rustico, Evening Star Cafe, etc.). NRG’s beer director Greg Engert and head brewer Megan Parisi will oversee the beer program and production.”
They anticipate opening in 2013. Looking forward to seeing the inside take shape:

Definitely a destination. Sure to draw the neighborhood condo folks, Navy contractors on their lunch break, the stadium crowd, and the Barracks Row customers looking for decent beer. I’m in.
Dont forget about the couple thousand DOT workers right next to it!
Yeah, and what about Navy employees? I’m sure it’s not just the contractors that will be going there. Plus there’s those of us that live in SE Capitol Hill. The Yards is a pleasant walk from Eastern Market and it will be nice to have dining/drinking alternatives to Barracks Row and H Street. Same goes for the folks in SW.

I agree! I walk by this area every week and it’s exciting to see it (and now the lumber shed) taking shape.
This is very exciting. I love good beer, esp microbrews. Will definitely be a regular if the beer is good.
the people behind it know their beer. the beer will be good, and the place will be awesome.
I figured it would be. Just judging from the pictures, the space looks awesome. And the other bars they run are first rate.
Finally, a nice pub where you can have a decent meal and a couple beers before a Nats game.

I’ve tried a couple of their early releases (collaborations maybe?) at Churchkey, and they were very tasty! And unusual styles as well (a light fruity smoky beer, for instance) which I appreciate. This place will definitely be widely successful and a huge boon to the neighborhood.
That is great to hear. THANK GOD they aren’t mostly concerned with concocting the next great IPA.

I love them as well.
I don’t know about the OP, but I don’t like IPA’s all the time and really like to see microbreweries that don’t just focus on them. That being said, a good IPA is a wonderful thing.
