If you have any fun or interesting animal/pet photos please shoot me an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit.

“This is Salty and Sweet Lil Ash, 14th St/Logan Circle”

“Coltrane in Dupont Circle.”

“Thisbe lives in the Palisades and loves to show off”

“Albino squirrel, East Village of Georgetown”

*East Georgetown. It’s between Wisconsin Ave. and Rock Creek.
East Village is east of 4th Avenue between 14th and Houston.
It’s true, Georgetown has an East Village too. http://www.thegeorgetowndish.com/thedish/georgetown-east-meets-west
“But some outside the village might be surprised and amused to know that there exists a further designation…”
My neighbor and I can call our block Fun Biscuits Brooklyn Party but everyone outside of our neighborhood calls it Columbia Heights. It’s lame to try to pick your own nickname. The Village and East Village in Manhattan were villages. Georgetown was a plantation, then a college surrounded by shacks (unless you ask Topher Matthews, who thinks the row houses were first), then a row of slums and tanneries. THEN a bunch of rich people after the Kennedys made it fashionable to live there. “East Village, Georgetown” is a post-Historic Preservation Act autochthonic realtor idea. Sorry, brosef.
Ronald, the area East of Wisconsin Ave is commonly referred to as “The East Village of Georgetown.” http://www.dccondoboutique.com/georgetown-east-village.php
*…is infrequently referred to as…
my thought exactly — he only place I ever see it described that way is in Craigslist ads for overpriced apartments!
Pretty kitties, cute doggie, and creepy squirrel!
Wow. How cool is that albino squirrel!
We had an albino squirrel living in Petworth around Illinois and Allison. Sadly it died this past spring. I’ve also seen one around the Ellipse. I’ve never seen one before in my life, so I assume there is some genetic line in the area that we have so many.
Afternoon Animal Fix makes my day, every day.
So true! I feel like that cartoon guy struggling across the desert every afternoon until I know the fix is posted! Also, I saw a fox, a black snake and a doe in Rock Creek park yesterday on one hike. (Back when it was a lovely temperate afternoon – remember that long ago?)
Agree 100%. I’m the owner of a 7 year old black lab. Had her since whe was 6 weeks old. She’s got her gray wiskers now and is growing a bit slow. But that face and the wagging tail every afternoon when I get home absolutely makes my day. You can sure tell animal lovers by how they pose their pets, or chase squirrels down the street or up a tree. I swear my blood pressure is lower because of my pup!
Mine too!
Did you just call me Coltrane?
love the name Thisbe!
coltrane is SO handsome!
Albino squirrel, wow. I expect a unicorn on tomorrow’s animal fix, or at least a yeti.
Great animals in this edition of the Fix!
Thisbe makes and excellent newel post.
