The former Chapters Literary Bookstore space at 425 11th St, NW will soon be filled with a new specialty sandwich shop called White Apron (not to be confused with Red Apron coming to nearby 709 D St, NW).

I’m assuming this will be another crappy corporate restaurant that will fit in quite nicely with all the other crappy corporate restaurants in Penn Quarter. And since it doesn’t try to make juvenile jokes like Meatballs did, it will probably last.
You have such a wonder disposition. I bet you have lots of friends that adore you.

This sounds really mediocre from the offerings rendered in the drawing: creamy-smooth hummus, garlic-punchy bean paste, freshly blended mayo, cool tangy tzatziki (more action happening from the descriptors). Sigh. Full disclosure: I’m not much of a sandwich person unless they are out of this world. I hope it’s great but not feeling super confident with the teaser.

No, the Wagamama is allegedly going on 7th St, between E and D. The signs are still up, however my hopes are not.

Damn, I usually stand in front of that door waiting for the 63 or 63 bus.
This is great-a place to get a sandwich while waiting for the 64 to show (or not).
425 11th is the new wine shop – (a former Ritz Camera location). White Apron is at 445 11th.
