1928 I Street, NW
I’ve gotten so many emails asking about the former Tony’s Flowers (Tony’s was there for 40 years) space at 20th and I St, NW. I finally found out what’s happening – an East Indian restaurant will be moving into the space after extensive renovations. More details as they become available.
Oh yeah, they may also put in a roof deck:

i love this shack. and much as i love indian food, they should have painted this place yellow and made it West Indian instead.
Oh No! Where will I be able to buy porn and flowers while I have my keys made???
The “extensive renovations” should start with tearing down this place. I think DC has matured past the point of needing a double-wide on this downtown corner.
Considering how valuable that corner must be, you’d think that would just happen.
A roof deck? Will stairs be necessary, or can you just pull yourself up?
Wait, ANOTHER indian place? There’s already Aroma right across the street, Rasoi two blocks away, and possibly Heritage India moving into the opposite side of the same block.
This is 20th and I, not 19th and I, just FYI. But I agree – not what’s needed on this corner. Oh well.
