One Step Closer to Adult Milkshakes from Ted’s Bulletin’s Future Location at 14th and Swann St, NW

1818 14th Street, NW

Back in March 2012 we got confirmation that Ted’s Bulletin would be opening up a 2nd restaurant at 14th and Swann St, NW. We are now one step closer to adult milkshakes. And I’m having a hard time containing my joy reading a description of the place on their liquor license application:

“Upscale 1930’s Art Deco Diner offering comfort food and breakfast all hour of operation. Occupancy Load is 191.”

And on a side note: I wonder how long the Swann Auto Sales lot across the street from the future Ted’s will remain a lot before getting bought and developed?

I just noticed for the first time ever—–The auto sales place sign reads “Swan”—-only one “N”

      I thought it was “Swann’s”

      • It probably _should_ be, given that the nearby street is “Swann,” but the signage for the auto place has it as “Swan.”

Another possibility: Maybe the auto sales place _is_ actually spelled with two N’s, but their painted sign has a misspelling? (Like with Nati Ho(o)kah Bar and their sign?)

Will their milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard? Will they be like, it’s better than yours?

Can the Black Cat survive all of this transformation?

Adult milkshake sounds sexual. I’m afraid to google it at the office.

Who would have ever thought 14th Street would develop like this? When I moved to DC 12 years ago I was warned I should not go north of Thomas Circle. My, oh my, how things have changed!!

  • Spring Rd. Speculator

Keep pushing north I say, up the hill, past the Tivoli, all the way to Taylor street. Daddy needs a new pair of shoes.

Hate to be a Debby Downer, but Ted’s shakes are not particularly good aside from the booze option. The one time I had a non-adult one it tasted gritty and full of ice chunks. It also cost $6 + change, which is absurd.

This is one item I’d give a big nod to Good Stuff over Ted’s. Glad to see the Hill doesn’t have a monopoly on mediocrity — we’re now exporting to food mediocrity deserts like Logan Circle

    • Agreed, Ted’s prices are ridiculous considering the quality of what you get. Don’t get me wrong, I will eat mediocre diner food anytime, but I also want to pay mediocre diner prices for it.

If I’m in the mood for a burger that looks like a metrobus ran over it, I head to goodstuff.
Ted’s shakes are insanely good IMHO

i love Ted’s! “mediocre food”. still a lot better than a lot of places on 14th

It’s mediocre diner food but you’re really going there for the atmosphere aren’t you? I do think their veggie burgers are pretty good. I’m not a fan of milkshakes so I’ve enver tried theirs.

Never been to Ted’s Bulletin, but I’m skeptical that it is “a lot better than a lot of places” on 14th. If there is one street in DC that is filled with good restaurants, I’d say it is 14th St NW.

I love Ted’s. I’m glad they are coming to our local ‘hood. Their “Sloppiest Joe” tastes just like my grandma used to make. I don’t know how they do it.
