I love Standard BBQ but I still kinda miss (the old) Garden District from 14th and S St, NW. I think Old City Green moving is gonna be a big loss for the neighborhood. Old City Green is located across from the convention center at 9th and N St, NW. In an email they write:
This is our last season on the corner of 9th and N so we plan on going all out with events!
Including…June
Night at the Garden w/ Special Agent Galactica
Saturday June 16th.
Proceeds got to Metro Teen Aids.
July
2nd Edible Urban Garden Tour
August
Special Dog-Days Movie Night w/ Wagtime
Celebrating the Dog Days of SummerAnd more to come so stay tuned!!
Moving Sale
We don’t know where we’re going, but we know we’ll get there!

I believe this corner is slated to be redeveloped as part of a CASRiegler project:

i'm guessing they put in some good sound buffering windows? fl ave is LOUD.
^yes. The only danger at this location is being run over by a motorist from Maryland.
Faison's writeups make me crazy. And not in a good "I'm crazy for buying this house!" way.
The Dancing Crab's commercials have to be the worst I've ever seen. The owners saying,...
God you people are boring. Why not more chatter about their footwears?
That is a damn shame.
The corner of 6th and Rhode Island NW is prepped and waiting for ya! What are you waiting for, open the second location now and merge into it for next season. It is metro accessible, bus accessible, bike, walking, and generally good parking near by. With Red Toque getting their outdoor patio seating this summer that will draw even more business. I want 25% off all purchases for creating this fine business model for you.
6th and RIA NW would definitely be the best place for them to go. Not too far from current clientele. I hope that happens.
Yes please to 6th & RI Ave NW! We’re Bloomindgale residents and have gotten our Xmas tree from OCG the past three years. Please stay close!
Yes, please. Another vote for 6th and RI.
Bummer!
6th and RI Ave NW does seem like a great location – That weird little hut would make a decent office. There is also the empty triangle on the south side of Fl. Ave. on the 100 Block of R street (just SW of Big Bear) which would be great.
Yeah, but it would be the go-to place for all the gardening needs of everyone within a 2-3 mile radius…
This is sad.
“VALUE/URBAN/CHARACTER” – 99% sure that the only correct descriptor for this building will be the middle one.
Actually, the design of the building is really nice and it has ground floor retail. 54 more units of housing to fill in the density for this area! I like OCG but have to say that this lot will be much better utilized as housing. Don’t like the high prices of living in the city? Might be time to consider moving to the burbs.
Oooh, oooh, I call bingo! Today’s comments have already included grammar Nazi-ing, snark at someone for asking a question, a complaint about a restaurant chain, and now someone telling someone else to move to the suburbs for making a reasonable statement! B-I-N-G-O!
All in a typical day in PoPville.
I know. I just thought turning it into a game might make me feel less sad in my feeling-parts.
I am sorry you are not a winner. After checking your card I see the “Blame the victim” box is still blank.
My god, you’re right. I feel so stupid for not even SEEING the box that reads “I can’t believe you checked your iPhone while walking.”
Bummer.
Extremely sad that we’re losing an institution. They have been on that lot for generations!
I am most concerned about what their closing means for the Lancaster CSA share that I pick up there……..
6th&RIAve also has a license to sell alcohol. Pick up some herbs and a brewsky. Sounds like a good business model.
