The installation of cheap brass hinges and foam-core doors does not equal historically renovated. Nor does it equal anything over $1 million.

    • Huh? Don’t know they’re foam core doors. Agree brass hinges look cheap, but they are what comes stock with prehung doors. Takes about $100 and an afternoon of work to swap them out for something that matches.

Huh? Could you explain why brass hardware is cheap looking? Do you mean with this door in particular or in general? Also are you talking about real brass or brass plated?

      • Anonymous

Are you sure this door is pre-hung? There are a lot of side lights and top lights so don’t know if the door would be pre-hung unless it included for all the windows too?

  • I would have gone with a 82″ DLP over a projector in the basement theater. NO SALE!

OMG, OMG, OMG…… LETS JUST SHOUT ABOUT HOW AB-SO-LUTE-LY FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC WE THINK THIS PLACE IS!!!!!!!! OMG, OMG, OMG…… YOU JUST HAVE TO COME SEE, YOU JUST HAVE TO…. OMG, OMG, OMG

All that white is a bit blinding and along with the shouting in the listing I am a little overstimulated. Can’t tell about some of the quality as pictures aren’t always reliable but the only real color seems to have been the closet and the wine room (though I think I spied beige on the bathroom walls).

    • White is for marketing.

But since we’re complaining, and at this price level one does, why do the side entrance stairs come into the driveway? I see those getting knocked off during the first snowstorm or drunken-return from party. Assuming anyone bothers to use the garage for a car as opposed to storage for crap that can’t fit in 6200 sq. ft.

So white…very, very white. With a ‘boost’ of pale gray, for those who can’t think without contrast. Whole place reads “nothing special” to me!

This place was on the market last summer for around 1.1 and sold for a little under 1.4 -obviously needed a ton of work. Even still, a 2.4 million dollar increase post renovation? That has to be crazy talk. I looked closely and those are pavers, not gold bullion in the driveway.

  • I like it (come on megamillions!) and it seems like a decent deal for space/location.
Also, is that Elizabeth Warren on the tv in the family room?

It really is Stepford Wives perfect (in good and the creepy sense), but for almost 4 mill? In Cleveland Park? Where do they think they are, Kalorama?

    • Newark Street – For whatever reason it seems to carry a premium.

I agree, though, the pricing seems pretty high especially given that history. Probably a builder/flipper who’s looking to get top dollar. But if he doesn’t he’ll evntually drop price down to $3M, which is closer to real and still make a good profit, rather than an outrageous one.

Wow. I know that CP can have some expensive homes and this has a lot of space but almost 4 million is a lot of money, especially knowing that the developers paid only 1.4 million for the property. Anyway, the house is not to my taste at all, as I’m not a fan of the Wardman style. I will give credit, though, that even though I’m not a fan of the style, it sure does look new, trim. I like the sweeping porch and it appears to be spacious. I really don’t like the mirrors in the kitchen or the exercise room. Maybe some people like to preen while doing either kitchen work or workout but I’m not into that sort of thing. I think the stairs on the side of the house that lead to the driveway probably lead to the kitchen, which might be useful if you’re wanting to unload the car from grocery shopping or whatever, so that actually doesn’t seem strange to me.

  • All nice work, but I can tell you with all seriousness (since this is what I do for living), not worth a penny over 2.2 mil.

The kitchen is tiny for this size house, the pool is WAY more trouble than it is worth, when did “they” start calling an attic a bedroom and I agree, all the white is more than boring.

All in all, whoever picked the asking price is living in a Potomac mini mansion world ;-)

I am with you on this, having scouted this area extensively as a potential buyer. Not nearly enough house for that price.

Good schools, good location, private residents-only neighborhood swim club. I like gray! Still a big jump from the last sale. Might appeal to someone coming in from out of town with a family who is in a hurry and already has a fistful of money.

I wanted to love this place — I love a solidly built 4-square, but this is a bit much. What is that room with the mirrored wall and a stone floor? And every light piece is exactly the same in each room — for this much in an “authentic restoration” I’d need to see restored crystal chandeliers in the dining room and living room and appropriate vintage ceiling lights in every room, as well as full wood carved doors in every room. This is just the shell of a 4-square that’s been reno’d in a very contemporary style. There’s nothing “authentic” about this place.
