1769 Columbia Rd, NW
Dear PoPville,
I just noticed that there is a new construction permit up at the old Pizza Hut location on 1769 Columbia Road. The Permit is for alterations by owner and the owner is listed as Tommy Hoang. A quick google of Tommy Hoang + DC shows that he is behind Pho 14.
Pizza Hut closed at 1769 Columbia Rd, NW back in Aug. 2011. Pho 14 is the super popular joint at 1436 Park Rd, NW in Columbia Heights. You can see their menu here.
The owner Mr. Hoang writes me:
“To us, it has been a true honor and privilege to have served the Columbia Heights community for the past years, we hope to continue to promote our culture and food throughout other locations in the District.”
CityPaper reported yesterday that they plan on opening in late summer/early fall. Updates as construction progresses. Great news for Adams Morgan!

Yes, but the American Ice ones are much less mainstream...
Any more news about their outdoor seating?
Rant: it stinks when you lose your cell phone.
But it's nice when someone finds it....
It seems to me that putting speed cameras where they will generate the most revenue is...
Uh-oh, another pho (noodle) shop in AdMo. What is this world coming to?
Pho 14 isn’t just “another noodle shop”–it is super delicious and always packed! I think this is great news for them (and me, who walks by here all the time). I hope they’re successful.
I like Pho 14 in CH and am glad they are doing well, for sure. In some ways, AdMo is the logical next step for them (or they could expand eastward). Too bad that the ramen place just opened up. Not saying they are identical but there is some overlap. The results could be that they will be better since there is competition.
Does Adams Morgan have any other pho places?? I can’t think of any.
I’m happy to see the 1700 block of Columbia Road getting something good for a change and not another mobile-phone reseller.

Though I think it may have a new name now.
I cannot begin to tell you how happy this makes me. Good pho, good people, good location (for me) . . . . yay. Pretty sweet upgrade from Pizza Hut.
I don’t even know what PHO is exactly but I think I would like to have some of it in Bloomingdale. Come PHO!
I’m all pho this!
Phokin’ A!
ITS ALL ABOUT THE BANH MI SANDWICHES.
This is huge for me. Order delivery from them once every other month or so; if they’re actually in my neighborhood, I’ll be there every other week (at least). Fantastically good vietnamese food at the CH location. Welcome!
are there any pho places in northwest that are east of 14th?
Pho DC in Chinatown, Noodles on 11 next to the City Center project.
Huge upgrade from the Pizza Hut. Hopefully they’ll be so successful that they can force the neighboring Burger King out. Next target for development: the ex-Payless Shoe Source…
Pho 14 pho is just okay. It is deemed good due to lack of alternatives.
đúng rồi! great to have it in CH, but really not that good. want good food generally? go to the suburbs (VN in virginia, chinese in rockville).
Yippee!
Phok Me! Yes!
“PoP Pho Patrol” That’s a mouthful to say, a tongue twister!
Great news! Great food, great staff, can’t wait! The pho trend is huge! With the popularity of their award winning pho, I’m sure pho 14 will do as well if not better. I would go for pho over greasy ramen/instant noodles any day. Hopefully they keep the same menu and pricing. Welcome pho 14!
We hope that they are planning to have a beer/wine/liquor license at this location. We frequent the Columbia Heights location for takeout and love it. Great addition.
So excited about this! Look people, pho in DC will likely never be as good as places like Pho 75 in Falls Church and if you want to understand why read this amazing article called the six rules of dining out: http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2012/05/six-rules-for-dining-out/8929/2/?single_page=true#.T8s9TdtHrXw.mailto
That being said, Pho 14 comes close enough and I’m thrilled to get it within walking distance!
