1324 14th St, NW
Back in March we looked at the rendering for Lionel Lofts coming to 1324 14th St, NW in Logan Circle. In the rendering there was a generic bistro in the retail space. Now we know what that bistro will really be – B Too from the owner of Belga on Barracks Row. The Washington Post reports:
The ground floor of the 150-seat restaurant, a former locksmith shop, will feature a waffle bar and breakfast by day and frites served through a window at night.
The owner of B Too is aiming for a launch date of 12-12-12.
Awesome!!!

Sounds great! Been to Belga a couple times and they serve up some solid (albeit a touch pricey) food.
14th Street arrived a while ago, and this is another feather in its cap.
I wish we’d see some gentrification (yea.. i said it!) south of RI on 7th street.
Patience, Bloomingdude, it will come…
I grew up on P street in the area you’re talking about near 7th. In 2007 the landlord gave us our 30 (some 60) days notice to vacate, she cashed in and sold her rowhouse for a ridiculous sum (bought in the early 90s for under 100k, sold for I believe in the mid 900s before the market crashed).
The section 8 buildings on 7th and 5th, etc have 10 year agreements, so whenever that contract is up, I’d be surprised if they renew it but who knows.
So don’t worry, the remaining low income people will eventually leave and you’ll get your own generic bistros, and then that neighborhood will have finally “arrived”.
There is nothing generic about Belga Cafe. It’s an exceptional and very Washingtonian restaurant, and I’m thrilled that I won’t have to cross town for a fix.
@stmaryland202 raises an important issue about expiring federal section 8 agreements. Anyone know how/where to find out when those agreements expire for specific properties?
Bitter betty?
Super Excited for this!!! This is a definite plus to the neighborhood. I am loving the booming french/ish food outbreak!
Fantastic news. I love Belga Cafe.
we’ll have 9 days to visit before….well, ya know
This one isn’t even on this list: http://www.bisnow.com/washington_dc_dining_news_story.php?p=23278
The neighborhood is really about to explode. For better or worse.
Cool to hear which restaurant is going in. Preservationnation is doing a blog series on the renovation of Lionel Lofts. Here’s the latest post: http://blog.preservationnation.org/2012/04/24/restoration-diary-underpinning-the-foundation-walls/
